Situation: Some of my RMG200 students started to get distracted and feel tired during the 3-hour lecture, I need to wake them up quickly.
Complication: It’s a large class with 350 students in the lecture hall. Some of them were shy or didn't want to speak up. Many of them were accommodated students.
Question: “How can I create a poll quickly to engage all of my students?”
Answer: That’s the question I had in mind in 2012. I couldn’t use Kahoot! or Mentimeter because these tools were not yet available in the market. Furthermore, the Clicker solution was way too expensive for my students. So, I’ve decided to collaborate with Prof. Paul Lam of CUHK and we developed our own class response system called Presentria (www.presentria.ca) that’s based on the uReply software engine.
Since the initial software release in 2012, over 2,000 professors used uReply/Presentria and 20,000 sessions have been run, with over 4.5 million page-views (responses from students).
